I joined the Cairns potters club in 2012 and started attending Social Wednesdays. I like making functional items, like small tea bowls, tea cups, plates, etc.
Pottery gives me pleasure when my pieces turn out ok, but glazing is always challenging for me.
My inspiration comes from the “Japanese tea ceremony”. The tea ceremony is my other hobby. I am always impressed by how tea bowls are in simple shape yet have aesthetic beauty and I wonder if I can make something like them someday.
Last year I took the TAFE ceramic course and learned a lot of new and different skills and techniques thus allowing me the challenge to make bigger and more creative items.
