I joined the club in late 2018 after visiting pottery exhibitions at the V&A and The Met. These were magnificent collections that quite blew my mind! I became so fascinated by the timeless beauty and functionality of ancient pottery that I decided to see what it was it was like to try and produce something, anything of merit.
The challenge continues.. I like the way the ‘craft ‘ of pottery can be either functional or artistic or anything in between. This allows non-artistic types (like me!) to still practice the discipline and produce ware that is functional in a home.. just like it was 3000 years ago. I like making large platters and vases as well as attempting technically beautiful thrown bowls.
Thanks to many in the club who have helped me over the years – much appreciated.
