Anne Jillet

Anne has engaged in a creative practice most of her life. All forms of textiles have been her primary materials for her artwork for much of this time. She exhibited through a number galleries in Australia with works going to collections here and overseas. Like several of the featured artists in the Cairns Potters Club Newsletter, Anne is quite new to ceramics. She was introduced to the medium of clay at the CPC Open Day in 2019. After an excellent introductory workshop with Russell French, Anne was encouraged to attend TAFE with teachers Jenny Valmadre and Olivia Azzopardi.

This has been a formative and exciting time with endless possibilities opening for her continuing ceramics journey.
Anne enjoys making functional ware as well as hand built sculptural pieces. This year she has defined two directions in her ceramics practice. Her functional ware is sold through various markets in the Cairns region. Anne views this as a vehicle to practice and learn more of the art of throwing pots and to experiment with different surface designs.

Sculptural pieces form Anne’s ‘gallery line’ of work and are represented in NorthSite Contemporary Arts Shop and the Helen Wiltshire Gallery in Mission Beach. She held her first solo exhibition at the Crystalbrook Bailey Hotel in 2021 and is a participant in ARTNOW FNQ2022.
