I grew up watching my dad on the pottery wheel so I have always been interested in ceramics. The fact that he built his own kiln is way cooler to me now than when I was 6 and just thought it was a good hiding spot for hide and seek (eeeek).
Like my dad did in the 80’s, I am currently attending wheel-throwing classes at TAFE (under the guidance of the very talented and knowledgeable Jen and Liv) but I initially learned to throw whilst living in Ubud, Bali in 2018/2019 at Sari Api Studio. I hand build sporadically, but enjoy being on the wheel and making functional ware more than anything.
I am interested in, and “endeavour” to learn more about incorporating glass with clay and I’m currently (and frustratingly) trying to perfect spiraling on the wheel.
