Aisha Kennett
One day in June 2022, I was browsing online when I casually stumbled upon the Ceramic Skill Set course at TAFE. Although I had never touched clay before, I decided to enroll in the course and began my ceramic journey the following month.
It has been a magical experience.
Soon, I found myself constantly thinking about what I could create with ceramics. Even waking up in the middle of the night, I was too excited to explore the possibilities and often struggled to go back to sleep.
In 2024, I started the Diploma of Visual Arts at TAFE. As a ranger working in the rainforest, much of my inspiration comes from the flora and fauna of the Wet Tropics. While I can’t wheel throw yet, most of my works are hand-built. I love bright and vivid colors, so this year I primarily work with underglaze.
There are still many skills I can explore and improve upon in the world of ceramics. My passion has not diminished, and I am truly excited to see what I can create in the future.
